The Harlequin Frog
"Rana Arlequin" Atelopus varius
The Atelopus varius, otherwise known in English as the Harlequiin Frog, strives to survive during these moderns times. Air pollution, agricultural effluents, biological resource use, hunting, non-native predators, plagues (such as chytridiomycosis), all deadly threats against the existance of the Harlequin Frog. Even in its natural habitat of Costa Rica will soon become near desolant of the Harlequin. The so-called ecological activists rant in their industrial homelands with picket signs, begging and complaining to their governments to stop rather than acting themselves!
But we, as the Harlequin Frog Survival Foundation, stand in line against those who fire against the Atelopus varius, whether they commit harm by accident or intent. We not only rally around the world, sharing knowledge of past mistakes, but too take the role of caretakers for this magnificent species.
